Current research and the evidence of "nature deficit disorder",
support our belief that the Green River Preserve experience helps prepare children for the 21st century. Here, we provide a non-academic setting
where campers can learn how to be respectful, contributing members of a community. They learn individual responsibility and teamwork within a
diverse cabin group and social setting. Their creativity and self-expression are inspired by the arts, theater, music and the
richness of the natural world. Self-awareness and critical thinking skills are encouraged through our non-competitive,
yet challenging hiking and activity schedule. Finally, by providing a community of bright, motivated learners, Green River
nurtures both self-confidence and self-awareness.

Safety and Health
We take safety and health seriously. The majority of our summer camp program occurs on the private, protected preserve. We have our own radio system which allows communication across the preserve. Transportation throughout the preserve is by a fleet of large, safe school buses. Our 3 to 1 camper to staff ratio enhances safety and allows indivualized attention. We have an outstanding, carefully screened staff… many are former campers. Counselors and mentors are first-aid and CPR trained. We have an attractive, well equipped infirmary staffed by a nurse and an assistant. Our facilities are well maintained and among the best in the camping industry.
