This is a wonderful and unique camp with a focus on nurturing the individual spirit and promoting a love and deep respect for nature. My shy, bookish then 9-year old had her first sleep away camp experience at Green River, and it was transformative. She returned the following summer for a longer session, will be returning again for an even longer session, and we are sending another child for her first experience this summer as well. Campers are encouraged to explore nature, develop their interests, have fun, and learn about the environment from creative, nurturing, and knowledgeable counselors and mentors. The level of freedom to be in and learn from the outdoors is unsurpassed during in their lives throughout the rest of the year. ~~ GRP Parent

Green River Preserve is an amazing summer camp focused on teaching young people the value of an integrated, experiential life. They combine good environmental stewardship with active learning skiils, and through it all they have fun. My son has been for many years and each time he comes home he says, “I’m my best me at GRP.” I think he says this because he gets to his truest core values about living peacefully on this planet. There are no cliques or clubs — the kids learn to respect and honor each person, no matter how different than themselves. And they learn this from the modeling offered by the camp’s leaders, Missy and Sandy Schenck.  I never had the opportunity to go to camp, but GRP is the kind of place I love sending my son and knowing that it is shaping him into a wonderful young man. ~~ GRP Parent

The site is so much like my vision of the ideal summer camp and the friendliness and helpfulness of EVERY staff member was remarkable. Our arrival was the nicest reception to camp I’ve EVER experienced (and I have 4 kids who’ve been going to summer camps for 12 years.) ~~ GRP Parent
