Day 5 Update

After breakfast (french toast, bacon, strawberries, cereal, bananas, yogurt, milk, etc.) the campers met with their mentor groups and headed out on the buses. Highlights include one group surprising another group along one of the trails, some campers received bravery beads for venturing into the darkest part of Indian Cave, and lots of polar-bearing and head-dunking.

Also, Alex, one of our counselors, stumbled upon a spearhead (Kirk cornered notched) from 7900-7800 BC. She found it on the road that leads to the farm. It must’ve washed up as a result of yesterday evening’s rainstorm. It’s always exciting to find artifacts of this sort.

Tonight’s menu included roast beef with garlic and rosemary, baked potatoes, asparagus, spinach and assorted greens salad with fresh strawberries, walnuts, goat cheese dressed with a balsamic vinaigrette. For dessert, a birthday cake, to celebrate all the June birthdays. Yum!

The evening program is the Variety Show! Tomorrow they leave for their campout after rest hour. Rich Preyer, GRP mentor, will write a post about it upon his return.
