GRP Wins Two Green Awards

We’re thrilled to announce that Green River Preserve has been awarded the Green America Business Seal of Approval and one of Great Nonprofits Top-Rated Green Nonprofit.

topratedbadge2011_lThe top-rated green nonprofits list is composed of organizations that have received at least ten positive reviews from stakeholders, such as volunteers, donors, or clients. The reviews were posted as part of Green River Preserve’s Green Choice ’11 campaign conducted by Great Nonprofits, in partnership with Guidestar and a coalition of nonprofit organizations.

The Green America Business seal is presented to businesses that go beyond product and service quality to set the highest standards in environmental sustainability and social justice, and work to solve, rather than create, environmental and social problems.

To be considered for the Seal of Approval and greenamericaearn a listing in the annual National Green Pages™, businesses complete a rigorous screening process to ensure they meet Green America’s standards for the environment, community and labor.

Green River Preserve is known for its unique summer camp and educational school programs, located on a 3,400 acre private wildlife preserve in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. They show exemplary concern for people and the planet by having an intentional focus on environmental education, providing a non-academic setting where campers can learn how to be respectful, contributing members of a community. The program offers a creative, nurturing, & intellectually stimulating approach to connecting children to the joy and wonder of the natural world.
