Unlike in the work world, Mondays at GRP are pretty terrific. Campers woke up bright and early to the sound of the bell at the lodge with a delicious breakfast waiting for them (pancakes, sausage, fresh blueberries, cereal, yogurt, cereal, and apple juice).
After breakfast they headed off to their mentor hikes which included helping Bentor put up the teepee, performing amazing Cherokee head-dumps in the Green River, refreshing polar bears at Uncle’s Falls and playing in mud at Reasonover. Also, I did hear that a certain young man even made some mud angels.
This afternoon there were plenty of activities to keep them busy – from fly-fishing to painting, from canoeing to throwing pottery and much more. Free-time found campers either swimming, exploring the creek by the gazebo, playing Ultimate Frisbee or just chilling out with a good book.
Dinner this evening was delicious – spaghetti, Greek salad, herb garlic bread and for dessert… wait for it… Lemonade Pie. This evening the campers played Predator vs. Prey. (Sorry about the mix-up. Last night they did upper council fire.)
Like I said, Mondays at GRP are pretty terrific and it’s only going to get better.
