OBX 2 Update

By Sandy Schenck

The Outer Banks expeditioners have been busy. After leaving Harker’s Island, they headed in the Mothership to the White Oak campground. Here they learned the ins and outs of community living as well as developed their kayak skills. They then began a 2 day black water paddle complete with wildlife sightings – a bald eagle and an alligator! The flat water trip ended at Stella as the blackwater segues to salt marsh. Thursday was spent back in civilization with a town day in beautiful, historic Beaufort and culminated with a dolphin talk by NC Maritime Museum’s biologist Keith Rittmaster. The expeditioners will depart for the barrier islands on Friday. We hope to have pictures to post by Monday.
