OBX 3: Wet Exits and More.....

By Anne Mead

OBX 3 is off the dock! Expeditioners spent their first full day diving into their new lives as kayakers. The morning was spent adopting their personal kayak, paddle, and life jacket. Basic skills were reviewed along with the practicing of wet exits and t-rescues for kayaks. After lunch and siesta, kayak frisbee, swimming, and some other games were played at Quarry Lakes. The group was pleasantly surprised with refreshingly cold water due to all the recent rain. It was a wonderful reprieve from the heat today.

Later this afternoon, expeditioners packed and readied themselves for their White Oak River kayaking trip. They will leave tomorrow from the Quarry Lakes and paddle over 8 miles to Long Point Landing for the night. The weather is set to be beautiful!
