Outer Banks Expeditions, June 18
By Sandy Schenck
The Expeditioners spent yesterday immersed in coastal biology. They spent time with the North Carolina Maritime Museum’s biologist, Keith Rittmaster. Keith is in the process of putting together a Sperm Whale skeleton that was found on the Cape Lookout National Seashore. GRP expeditioners have been learning about and helping with the project for the past several years. GRP is a proud sponsor of the skeleton. You can learn more about this project at http://bonehenge.org/ After Bonehenge, they also learned about dolphin behavior and research. Today, they get back in their kayaks and head for Shackleford Island and begin their Outer Banks kayaking portion of their trip. We are wishing them smooth sailing!
