Outer Banks Expeditions Session 2, July 10

By Sandy Schenck

The reports are in that this group are strong paddlers! They are doing a great job with their paddling skills and looking forward to their kayak out to the barrier islands. Today, they are spending time in the quaint sea-side town of Beaufort, NC. It is the third oldest town in NC. They will learn about Bonehenge (you can Google this) – which is a project of Keith Rittmaster, the biologist for the NC Maritime Museum. It involves resotration of a Sperm Whale skeleton. GRP camp and campers have been supporting this project since its beginning. They will also learn about the Dolphin research that Keith conducts. Tomorrow, they will begin the barrier island paddle. We will post photos as soon as they arrive via snail mail from the coast!
