Get ready for the best summer of your life when you sign up for one of Green River Preserve’s Expeditions! Designed for rising 9th graders through freshmen in college, GRP’s expeditions will challenge you in self-awareness and growth through a unique co-ed community living adventure. As a member of expeditions you will, expand your leadership skills, make new friends, and discover new realities while exploring the outside world. At GRP, we believe these skills are essential qualities you will carry for the rest of your life. When young people are equipped with these tools in an outdoor living environment, they are readily able to translate these attributes to the real world.
- Our expeditions include both former GRP base campers and new campers
- Each trip comprises 12 students total, we strive to have 6 boys and 6 girls
- Our staff to camper ratio is 1:4
- We review our applicants carefully, to ensure the best peer community for your child
Expeditioners live in single gender tent groups in a community base camp. Because of our close-knit group we ask expeditioners to comply with the following guidelines:
- Be a contributing member of the expedition community
- Embrace wilderness living
- Be respectful and kind to all
- Act safely and responsibly
- Commit to an outdoor lifestyle of learning, physical activity, and unbargaining service
- Serve as a student and steward of the environment
My experience at BRX was the same high-quality experience I’ve come to expect from GRP.
BRX is the place where you can go to get out of the “real” world. There is no stress, no one ruling your life, no one judging you. I love it here!
My overall experience of all of GRP including 2 years of BRX has been great. It’s my home away from home and I count down the days until I can come back next year.

I wish that I had started GRP at a younger age; that is the only thing I would have done differently!
I have learned to take responsibility and to be pushed out of my comfort zone.
Expeditions have really changed my life for the better. To have such a strong sense of community and to have bonded so closely with everyone here really changes and builds my outlook on difficult situations I experience among people.
The staff on this expeditoin were phenomonal! I couldn’t ask for better leaders. They are a big part of the success of this expedition.
The staff taught me so much! I learned many primitive skills, but I also learned a lot about compassion, leadership, and living with others.

There are no words to describe my experience, it’s just one of those you really just have to experience for yourself, which is highly recommended! The bonds you make are unbelievable.
I never intended to leave with so much more than when I started. If I could give anyone advice about attitude, just go in and try to learn and take as much out as you can. I never thought I would learn as much as I did and I think I could have learned a lot more!
My overall experience at BRX was an unbelievable one, and one that I hope to carry with me for the rest of my life.
This expedition was amazing! I had a wonderful time here, as usual, winding down and returning to the natural rhythm of life!
Keep doing what you are doing BRX, GRP, and OBX. They have all made a lasting impression on my life.
