Please visit our directions page for details.
Can I send candy or food to my camper in a package?
No, because food in our cabins attracts animals including rodents and bugs. We reserve the right to return, at your expense, any food or candy sent in violation of this rule.
What are the cabins like?
Each cabin is a duplex adjoined by a central bathroom. Campers sleep on bunkbeds. The shower house is located a short distance from the cabins.
My child has food allergies. Will there be something for him/her to eat?
Yes, we make every effort to have food available for campers with special diets – vegan, vegetarian, etc.
How many campers will be in my child’s session?
No more than 104.
Do the boys and girls participate together?
While the boy and girl cabins are separated, they do participate in activities together including mentor hikes, afternoon activities and more.
My child wants to be in the same cabin as a friend; is that possible?
Cabin group are determined according to age and grade level to insure compatible levels of maturity. Please let us know if your child has a cabin mate preference via the camper application. We cannot guarantee that your child will be placed in the same cabin with his or her preference(s), however we will try to honor special requests. Please try to limit your requests to one other person. The directors reserve the right to make the final decisions on cabin assignments.
My child wants to join the Outer Banks Expedition; do they meet at the Cedar Mountain Base Camp?

What’s special about a small summer camp?
Our campers have always said they feel like they’re part of a family at Green River Preserve. They feel cared for and respected. They fit in. That’s pretty special. The Green River Preserve Board made a conscious decision to keep the non-profit summer camp small with a total enrollment per session of no more than 104 campers.
Is Green River Preserve an academic camp and is it only for straight a-type students?
Learning at Green River Preserve is hands-on, fun and spontaneous. Every day campers experience a shared sense of wonder and adventure in nature’s classroom. Campers do not need to be labeled gifted or have top grades to apply. They do, however, need to have an eagerness to learn more about nature.
CampIn Touch Questions
If you’re currently experiencing issues with logging into CampIn Touch, here are some things you can do that might resolve some of them:
1) Make sure that you are using the same email address to log in that you have stored in the system. If you don’t know, please don’t hesitate to give us a call or send us an email. If needed we can send a reset invite. Once we do, make sure you check your spam/junk folder just in case. Also keep in mind the invite will be valid for only three days.
2) If you’ve forgotten your password, click on the “Retrieve/Set Password” link on the login page.
3) Depending on the internet browser you’re using, CampIn Touch might not support it if it’s out of date. For instance, the newest version of Internet Explorer is version 9. If you’re using versions 6 or 7, you might experience some problems. It’s good to upgrade in any case for a more secure browsing experience overall.

Faxing back forms:
When faxing in forms listed in CampIn Touch, please fax to 828-333-5669. This fax number is linked to CampIn Touch and places the ParentAuthorization, Physician’s Examination, Immunization, and Store Authorization Forms into each camper’s account. Please do not fax these four forms to the main GRP fax number! It will slow the process down.
Also, when you have faxed barcoded forms to us, please expect them to take about 24-48 hours to show up as complete in your camper’s CampIn Touch file. (Please keep the originals, just in case there is a glitch or if something is incomplete when it shows up in our batch form printing.)
To set up a guest account:
In order to have family and friends view your camper’s photos, you will first have to set up a guest account via your CampIn Touch account. Then you’ll click on the Guest Accounts link. Once you do, you’ll see this page:

Fill out the corresponding fields and then click on the Create Guest Account. Your guest will then be emailed log in instructions. You might also want to advise them to check their spam folder just in case.
