Brandon Marshall

Media Specialist

Brandon began at GRP in 2017, after several years working in ski photography, whitewater photography and nature photography, in general. Born in the Adirondacks of upstate NY, his upbringing of hiking, camping, fishing and hunting bore a deeper sense of connection to the outdoors. It wasn’t until an old 35mm camera was left to him just before college, when he decided to study magazine journalism and photography. His pursuit of a degree came to fruition and brought him from a little town in the armpit of New York, all the way to the mountains of Vail, Colorado. Ski photography led to rafting and kayaking photography, then back to skiing. Another year and he’d met his life partner, Sam, who told a tale of a magical place in the North Carolina mountains, where someday they might end up.

That place was Green River Preserve, and Brandon has since 2017 been co-Media Coordinator, alongside Sam. His love of photography has fueled a constantly evolving sense of light and tone, of understanding subjects and composition in his frame. Although he loves to photograph campers and camp-folk in their element, he also enjoys capturing long-exposures and the beauty of our natural world. Over the past few years, Brandon has become a Mentor, as well, leading hikes in the Spring and Fall sessions during our S.E.E. Program. This summer, you’ll find him all over the place, with camera in hand, ready for action!
